    Urbana Country Club, located in Urbana, IL, is seeking a proven, successful Marketing Manager.  Founded in 1922, the Club was acquired by Mr. Shahid Khan in 2009.  Urbana Country Club offers a full line of amenities and services including golf, swimming, tennis, banquets, and fine dining. In 2016, a 5.5 million clubhouse renovation was completed and, this fall, the Club will break ground on multi-million-dollar lodge/spa concept.  

    Scope of the Position

    Supports the development and implementation of ongoing media and marketing strategy. Provides social media communication direction and support. Verifies information to the public and community is displayed correctly and effectively. Develops and maintains an ongoing, focused media and marketing placement program.

    Responsibilities

    Building Brand and Property Awareness to Drive Revenue

    • Works collaboratively with local, regional and national resources to build awareness and increase exposure for the property.
    • Utilizes analytics to assess and evaluate effectiveness of marketing and media efforts – redirecting efforts for stronger performance, if necessary.
    • Works closely with the General Manager and Membership Sales Director to align marketing with the current sales promotions.
    • Selects the best opportunities for the property based on market conditions and property needs.
    • Uses creative selling abilities to obtain maximum exposure through influential media outlets.
    • Increases awareness within the travel media community as well as coordinating events to gain exposure and grow revenue.
    • Supports the property’s social media efforts.
    • Works with online media outlets to promote the property.
    • Works collaboratively to create brochure and property collateral materials.
    • Participates in all property imaging work (e.g., signage).
    • Ensures consistent brand and property message is communicated in all public relations and communications efforts.
    • Manage a dedicated marketing budget.

     

    Building Successful Relationships

    • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new media outlets to ensure future exposure. Activities include calls, entertainment, trade shows, etc.
    • Develops relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities and additional revenue.
    • Conducts solicitation and maintenance calls to media.
    • Identifies and communicates with distribution channels to drive property occupancy and usage.
    • Provides all communications channels with creative and unique tools to assist in the public relations and communications of the property.
    • Assists property in developing promotions for various campaigns.
    • Executes tasks directly related to member retention.

     

    Coordinating Communication Efforts

    • Provides accurate, complete and effective communications to visiting journalists, publicity or promotions.
    • Evaluates new public relations opportunities for the property.
    • Partners with property leaders in the development of the strategic public relations plan for property, includes group, leisure and local efforts.
    • Assists in managing individual and group media visits.
    • Assists in creative print fulfillment; ensures corporate branding standards and legal compliances are met and incorporated into collateral.
    • Coordinates with senior staff information required for the club magazine, newsletters, regular eblasts and social media posts
    • Supports hotel press releases and other content for print media and electronic media.
    • Manage the Club’s website and mobile app.

     

    Providing Exceptional Customer Service

    • Sets a positive example for guest/member relations.
    • Interacts with guests/members to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels; effectively responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
    • Observes service behaviors of employees and provides feedback to improve service performance.

     

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Keeps detailed files and records on all matters relative to property's public materials.
    • Writing and proofreading as necessary.

     

    Qualifications

    • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Business Administration, or related major
    • 5-10 years of relevant experience
