Urbana Country Club is looking for an outstanding individual to become part of our exceptional team.  The Club is seeking an experienced and accomplished professional to lead and manage the financial and operational reporting of our world-class operation.

Scope of the Position

This person is responsible for the overall accounting function of the Club. This will include the maintenance of accurate accounting records in the Club’s accounting system, timely and accurate financial reporting, and compliance with all tax filings. In addition this person will process bi-weekly payrolls through ADP, maintain employee personnel files, and handles employees participation in the Club’s benefit plans. This person will report directly to the Club’s General Manager and will be an integral part of the Club’s management team.



  • Processes and records all transactions in the Club’s accounting system including membership billings, accounts payable, and payroll
  • Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, including all bank accounts, as well as all asset and liability accounts
  • Produce timely and accurate monthly financial statements and provide analysis on information which could include supporting schedules. Distribute and communicate financial results to General Manager and Club management
  • Prepares budgets and financial forecasts in coordination with the General Manager, analyzes financial information, monitors budgeted versus actual expenditures and advises management about variances
  • Ensure the accounts receivable billings are accurate and submitted to members in a timely manner; review of accounts receivables/membership accounts and past due accounts
  • Works with Membership Director on collection of past due accounts through legal process when necessary
  • Oversee all accounts payable/vendor activity; preparation of weekly check runs; preparation of all 1099 reports at year end
  • Process bi-weekly payroll through ADP service vendor. Coordinates tip allocations with Front of House Manager
  • Preparation and review of all payroll related reports for worker’s compensation & liability audits
  • Calculation and preparation of monthly sales tax reports, including the local liquor tax and state sales tax reports
  • Review and analysis of all functions/events, calculation of profitability per event.
  • Human resources responsibility –
    • Maintains club’s personnel files. Coordinates all employee record-keeping functions in accordance with federal and state requirements
    • Keeps current with laws and regulations relating to employees; assures compliance with these laws and regulations; advises club managers as necessary
    • Manages the club’s group insurance, unemployment and related benefits programs; communicates benefits information to staff
    • Processes enrollments, changes, and terminations of participants in all benefit plans and programs
    • Reconciles monthly billing statements for benefit programs against payroll deductions


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3+ years’ relevant work experience including knowledge of tipped service workers and Illinois sales and use taxes
  • Country Club and industry software experience a plus
  • Strong analytical and technology skills including proficiency in MS Excel
  • Will be required to pass a thorough background test
  • Strong work ethic and the willingness to get involved in all aspects of the organization
