We are accepting applications for apprenticeship openings at Ventra Grand Rapids 29 for Die Repair Technician. Selection into the apprentice program will require the candidate’s ability to take classes concurrent with work. Primary responsibility is to troubleshoot and repair tools/dies, fixtures and machines throughout the plant and assist with all functions of the tool room. Responsible for quality of workmanship and ensuring completion of tasks. Able to troubleshoot and repair progressive and secondary stamping dies.
Individual should have demonstrated mechanical aptitude and experience working in a manufacturing setting.
Working with hand tools, measuring instruments and machine shop tools such as mills, lathes, saws, grinders, and drilling machines is necessary.
Willingness to learn the concepts of MIG/TIG welding
Ability to quickly learn complex tool repair techniques
Willingness to learn to troubleshoot dies and repair machinery and fixtures throughout the plant.
Assists in ensuring safety standards and compliance with work rules are consistently followed throughout tool room. Reports any and all safety issues immediately to department manager / EHS Dept.
Ensures Lockout / Tag-Out procedures are followed when working on equipment.
Recommends shut down of equipment if found to be unsafe or not capable of performing to specifications.
Follows ISO environmental requirements per standards.
Follow IATF quality requirements per standards.
Maintains 5S standards as they relate to housekeeping in the assigned work area
Works with team members / management staff to attain Company goals.
Suggest and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
High school diploma or GED is required. Work experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred. Satisfactory score on basic mechanical aptitude test must be obtained. MIG/TIG welding experience is preferred.
Must make Commitment for 4 years of schooling. Tuition will be paid by the Company with a passing grade of a minimum of 3.0 (B) or above. Courses will be completed at Grand Rapids Community College and will be scheduled on your own time outside of scheduled working hours
