Scope of the Position

Guardian West is seeking an Engineering Intern to support Engineering and Operations in the completion of projects designed for operational improvements of our automotive stamping, welding and assembly processes.


The Engineering Intern will participate in projects focusing primarily on material consumption and movement, work area optimization, and waste reduction.  These projects will require the Engineering Intern to:

  • Monitor and develop productivity standards for functional areas based on work measurement,
  • Identify exceptions, formulate recommendations, and implement process improvements and
  • Perform operational observation and process documentation.


  • Knowledge of Industrial Engineering and or Engineering related discipline
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Effective statistical analysis skills
  • Effective research and communication skills
  • Effective with written and oral communications
